The success story of the Volkswagen brand can be attributed in no small way to compact cars like the Polo and Golf \u2013 with the latter even giving its name to an entire vehicle class. However, only time will tell how the impact of the agile compact will fare in the age of electric mobility \u2013 even though its use in urban areas offers significant potential. Just take mobile service providers in the care or courier sector, for example. Their relevance is likely to increase even further in the future considering demographic trends. With the ID. 2all concept car, Volkswagen is providing a taste of what an all-electric compact car might look like \u2013 and at the same time offering the prospect of an expected starting price of probably less than 25,000 euros. A good basis for calculation for fleet managers, especially considering the impressive features on offer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The concept car is one of ten ID. models that Volkswagen plans to launch on the European market by 2026, which will then also be configurable with innovative technology features from higher vehicle classes. Examples? Here you go:<\/p>\n

    The ID. 2all concept car is also the first vehicle in the electric MEB family with pure front-wheel drive, which means it is surprisingly generous in terms of space. That\u2019s because the engineers have created an interior the size of a Golf within the compact exterior length of a Polo. This ensures the usual abundance of space for passengers \u2013 and a surprisingly large storage volume of around 490 up to 1,330 litres. This is also possible thanks to the many clever interior solutions, which allow for flexible and efficient management of space. The best example of this is the fold-down front passenger seat backrest, which creates a continuous load area of up to 2.20 metres in length when folded down in combination with the rear seat backrest on the passenger side, which can be folded down in a 40:60 split ratio. But even when the rear seats are upright, the concept car offers an impressive amount of space in the luggage compartment of up to 440 litres. And what\u2019s great about this is that the double luggage compartment floor provides space underneath for a rectangular stowage box that can fit several beverage crates for example.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Fully-fledged electric vehicle, day in day out<\/h2>\n

    [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]An important argument when purchasing an electric car is naturally the range, which is in turn dependent on the battery: And even though the battery is physically smaller in compact cars \u2013 the ID. 2all still offers a tempting range of up to 450 km (calculated only, since actual values are not yet available for the concept car). The recharging speed is also impressive: The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 20 minutes at DC fast-charging stations. At home or at public AC charging points, the battery can be charged with up to 11 kW, though the charging time is longer due to physical circumstances. Kai Gr\u00fcnitz, Member of the Board of Management for Development, sums up the qualities of the concept car: \u201cThe production version of the ID. 2all will be a full-value electric vehicle for every day of the year.     Simple use, on every journey<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

    [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The ID. 2all concept car offers a clear interior design: The large touch display of the infotainment system impresses with a screen diagonal of 32.7 cm (12.9 inches) and a new and intuitive menu structure. Below this there is a newly developed, separate air conditioning control panel, which allows the main air-conditioning functions to be controlled using illuminated buttons. In the middle of the air conditioning control panel \u2013 easily accessible for both driver and front passenger \u2013 there is also a practical small thumbwheel to adjust the volume of the infotainment system. Located below this in the centre console are two large inductive charging interfaces for smartphones, which can be magnetically locked in position. Other vehicle functions are operated by means of the large menu control in the centre console, which can also be used to change the look of the digital instruments.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

    Everything under control, second by second<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

    [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The new multifunction steering wheel is designed to be clear and self-explanatory \u2013 with thumbwheels on the left and right with two buttons each, and nothing else. Drivers are provided with all important information on one visual axis by means of the digital cockpit and a head-up display. Smartphones are supplied with power by numerous USB-C interfaces (45 watts) in various locations in the interior and by magnetic holders with inductive charging function in the backrests of the front seats. Even larger electronic devices can be powered by a fully usable 230 V socket.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
