Basically, the advantages of electric vehicles cannot be denied: Efficient dynamics thanks to transmission-free e-motors, very good road holding thanks to placement of the batteries close to the ground, convincing spaciousness thanks to long wheelbases – and last but not least, reduced service frequency thanks to reduced drive components. These are all arguments that fleet operators should have on their positive list. For company car drivers, on the other hand, these benefits seem to score less points – here, range is still the top priority.<\/p>\n

Force of habit<\/strong>? <\/strong><\/p>\n

A closer look reveals that a diesel vehicle with only one tank covers more kilometres than an electric vehicle. However, the technical development of battery technology is progressing at seven-mile pace, so that the supposed range disadvantage is becoming more and more equalised. The brands of the Volkswagen Group offer numerous models that score points with interesting distance performance. First and foremost is the new ID.7, which the Volkswagen brand recently presented as a near-production model:<\/a> The manufacturer predicts a range of up to 700 kilometres\u00b2\u00b9\u207e for the all-electric sedan, which should convince even sceptical field staff.<\/p>\n

\u00b9\u2076\u207eMaximum electrical power: 220\/195 kW. Maximum power determined according to UN GTR No. 21, which can be called up for a maximum of 30 sec. The power available in the individual driving situation depends on variable factors such as outside temperature, temperature, state of charge and conditioning or physical ageing of the high-voltage battery. The availability of maximum power requires in particular a temperature of the high-voltage battery between 23 and 50 \u00b0C and a battery state of charge > 88%. Deviations from the aforementioned parameters in particular can lead to a reduction in power up to non-availability of the maximum power. The battery temperature can be influenced indirectly to a certain extent via the stationary air conditioning function and the state of charge can be set in the vehicle, among other things. The currently available power is shown in the vehicle’s driving performance display. In order to maintain the usable capacity of the high-voltage battery in the best possible way, it is recommended to set a charging target of 80% for the battery for daily use (can be switched to 100% before long-distance journeys, for example).<\/em><\/p>\n
