Or maybe pick-up, premium and all-wheel drive? Before you spend too long thinking about it: all these attributes are correct! Because the new Amarok combines the strengths of the former model with fresh developments that really make a statement. First and foremost, the new Amarok is a real powerhouse and, thanks to 4MOTION, its switchable all-wheel drive system, it can handle loads of up to 1.19 tonnes and boasts a 3.5 tonne towing weight. As a result, it can be used in numerous scenarios \u2013 both in the professional and private sphere (not least due to the practical cargo box on the truck bed). On board the pick-up, the driver and passengers have more than 25 assist systems at their fingertips depending on the version (and within the context of their system limits). There are also numerous practical controls (a well-considered mix of digital and analogue elements) and clear displays with a screen size of up to 31.2 centimetres (corresponding to 12.3 inches). The interior is finished in highquality materials, which can also cope with tough working conditions \u2013 and other adventures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The new Amarok is not just eminently suitable for the asphalt jungle, it has proved to be exceedingly solution-oriented away from paved roads too. With this in mind, it is available with 4MOTION four-wheel drive and slip differential on the rear axle \u2013 as standard in Germany and throughout Europe too. Depending on the engine version, two different 4MOTION systems are used: a switchable all-wheel drive with three drive modes (2H, 4H, 4L) and a top model with four drive modes (2H, 4H, 4L and 4A). In the Amarok, 2H is the eco-mode, i.e. a pure rear-wheel drive for street driving, 4H is a rigid all-wheel drive just for loose surfaces like sand or snow, which can be driven over at higher speeds. 4L is a gear reduction for slowly crossing difficult off-road terrain. Here, more power is directed to the drive shafts at low speeds. The top model offers an extra, fourth mode (4A) via an additional multi-plate clutch in another transfer box: a variable and thus automatic power distribution between the front and rear axles; technically this is an \u201cextended switchable all-wheel drive\u201d.<\/p>\n

The differential lock and intelligent \u201cdrive modes\u201d round off the all-wheel drive characteristics. With these options, Amarok users now have significantly more influence over the choice of all-wheel drive. The selectable \u201cdrive modes\u201d help to optimise the forward motion and facilitate ideal settings for the Amarok, regardless of the path it takes, either \u201con the road\u201d, i.e. streets and paved roads, or \u201coffroad\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The new Amarok is available in a total of five model variants with three different TDI diesel engines: in Germany, the new Amarok is available to order now. Further market launches in Europe are already planned for the coming months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
