In the face of climate change, companies are becoming increasingly aware of their responsibilities and setting appropriate sustainability goals. A key objective in this respect is to reduce the carbon footprint \u2013 and the composition of the fleet often proves to be an effective lever in this context. Electric mobility is a critical factor on the path towards climate-friendly mobility.\u00b9\u207e<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lawmakers in many countries have furthermore defined the underlying conditions to enable the successful break-through of powertrains with zero local emissions: from tax incentives, subsidies for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure through to bans on conventional powertrains in specified zones or from a certain period.<\/p>\n

Electric vehicles are more environmentally friendly than conventionally powered vehicles, their total cost of ownership is generally lower and companies send a positive signal to consumers when they make the switch. More than three quarters of large international companies have already adapted their car policies accordingly and integrated the topic of electric mobility.\u00b9\u207e For fleet managers, therefore, the question has long since ceased to be whether they will switch, but when.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The \u201celectric circuit\u201d is growing constantly: even today, electric vehicles account for more than 30 per cent of new car orders in Europe alone.\u00b9\u207e But while the question of \u201cpetrol or diesel\u201d formerly revolved primarily around financial considerations, the question of \u201cconventional or electric\u201d has significantly more far-reaching effects. Apart from deciding which models are suitable for individual needs, the following must also be clarified: Who charges when and where? How many charging possibilities will be needed? Where will the electricity come from? How is energy management organised? And much more.[\/vc_column_text]\n\n

The switch to electric mobility should therefore be embedded in an end-to-end approach with the right infrastructure. This is quite complex. It pays to have a strong partner at your side here, to support the entire process from first to last step. The Volkswagen Group is this very partner for major fleet customers in Europe. Its new and modular 360\u00b0 e-consulting concept \u201cElectrification-as-a-Service\u201d is the one-stop shop for everything that companies need to electrify their fleet \u2013 from fleet analysis, choice of suitable vehicles and dashboards to tailored financing and leasing offers through to the charging infrastructure and load management. The modules can be selected individually or combined as required.<\/p>\n

The specified fuel consumption and emission data have been determined according to the measurement procedures prescribed by law. Since 1st September 2017, certain new vehicles are already being type-approved according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), a more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and\u00a0CO\u2082 emissions. Starting on September 1st 2018, the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) will be replaced by the WLTP in stages. Owing to the more realistic test conditions, the fuel consumption and CO\u2082 emissions measured according to the WLTP will, in many cases, be higher than those measured according to the NEDC. Therefore, the usage of\u00a0CO\u2082 emission values measured according to WLTP for vehicle taxation from 1st September 2018 on can cause changes in this regards as well. We are currently still required by law to state the NEDC figures. In the case of new vehicles which have been type-approved according to the WLTP, the NEDC figures are derived from the WLTP data. It is possible to specify the WLTP figures voluntarily in addition until such time as this is required by law. In cases where the NEDC figures are specified as value ranges, these do not refer to a particular individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the sales offering. They are intended\u00a0 exclusively as a means of comparison between different vehicle types. Additional equipment and accessories (e.g. add-on parts, different tire formats, etc.) may change the relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics, and, in conjunction with weather and traffic conditions and individual driving style, may affect fuel consumption, electrical power consumption, CO\u2082 emissions and the performance figures for the vehicle.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n
